These are directions for songs that are currently on your computer and that are songs ripped from
CD's or from any other non pay site that’s saves the files in the accepted formats. These songs have
to be MP3. WMA or WAV file formatted. These directions are not for purchased
songs from iTunes, Wal Mart or any other pay site. These directions are for the majority
of our customers who want to plug and play the device.
Pay sites have copyright encryption built in. These songs have to be copied to CD then ripped back to the
computer in the accepted formats (MP3). After this they can be used on the MP4 player. This is the only
way pay for site songs can be used without exception on most MP3's except for Apple iPods.
This MP4 will sync with iTunes and Windows Media Player. If you are using iTunes you have to
install iTunes Agent and .net framework2.0. These directions are not for this procedure.
If you want to use iTunes you will need to go to the following sites and install iTunes Agent and
.Net Framework 2.0 to be able to sync to iTunes. BELOW ARE THE LINKS TO THE REQUIRED SOFTWARE
| Download iTunes Agent |
 |
| Download .Net Framework 2.0 |
 |
After installation go back to the iTunes Agent website and follow the directions to complete the setup.
If you purchase your songs through iTunes you will have to go through the above procedure for pay
for music sites to be able to download your songs to your MP4.
- Plug the device in
- Make sure device is turn on (push tab to the right @top or bottom of MP4)
- Computer should recognize MP4
- Dialog window opens up
- Select Open to folder view from selections
- MP4 window will open, you may see a few files in it already
- Leave this window open
- Go to the start button and press Left mouse button
- Start button is located lower left corner of menu bar
- When the start button opens select My Music Folder
- Find the music you want to copy to the MP4
- It has to be MP3, WAV or WMA formats
- Select the songs you want on your MP4
- Press Ctrl C on the keyboard (copy)
- Go to the window that is the MP4 (window that opened when MP4 plugged in)
- Press Ctrl V on the keyboard (paste)
- songs are there.
- Go to MP4
- Hit menu button till you see music icon
- Music section window comes up
- Click menu button
- Songs are listed scrolling along on the middle of the page
- Click on right arrow to scroll through songs
- Select song and play.
- That's all there is to it!!!!!
| SYNCING MUSIC PURCHASED FROM PAY FOR MUSIC INTERNET SITES |
When you purchase songs or music from any pay for music site you must always burn (copy) said
music to a CD then rip the music back to the computer to lose the copyright that has been
attached to the song when you purchased it. Once the music has been ripped back to the
computer in MP3 format you can copy, sync or drag and drop the music to your new
MP3 player. This has to be done on any MP3 player.

Rip (Copy) Songs from CDs to Your Computer; |
 |
Syncing Files to Your Portable Media Player
The first step to synchronizing your files with your portable media player is
portable device. Many players will work with Windows Media Player 11, but
experience, you should look for a device that is PlaysForSure compatible.
After you have your device, open Media Player and connect the device to your computer.
Media Player prompts you to choose either Automatic or Manual sync method. For a
description of these methods, see the corresponding section that follows. If you decide later
to change the sync method, click the arrow below the Sync tab, point to the device, and
select Set Up Sync. You can then select or clear the Sync This Device Automatically
check box.
Choosing What Syncs Automatically
If your device is set to sync automatically, the items selected to sync will be updated each
time you connect your device to your computer. To select the items that will be synchronized,
follow these steps:
1. Click the arrow below the Sync tab, point to the device name, and select Set Up Sync.
2. In the Device Setup dialog box, shown in Figure 8.17, you can choose the playlists that
are synchronized with your device. Using the available playlists, select Add to sync the
selected playlist with the device. To stop a playlist from synchronizing, select it in the
Playlists to Sync list and choose Remove.
T I P
To make sure your favorite playlists sync in the event that your device runs out of storage
space, make sure to use the priority arrows in the Device Setup dialog box to set the priority
of the selected playlist.
Selecting Item to Sync Manually
If your device is set to sync manually, each time you want to make changes to the files on
your device, you must create a list of files to sync. To remove files from your device, navigate
the device using the Navigation pane to find your file. Right-click the file and choose
Delete. To set up a list of files to sync to the device, perform the following:
1. Select the Sync tab and clear the sync list by clicking the Clear List pane button as
shown in Figure 8.18.
2. Find your media in your library and drag them to the List pane to add them to the Sync
List as shown in Figure 8.18. To select multiple items, hold down the CTRL key while
selecting your media. To remove items from the Sync List, right-click the item and
select Remove from List.
The Device Setup dialog box allows you to choose the playlists to sync and their
priority.
T I P
To have Media Player automatically choose a set of random songs from your library, you
can choose Click Here on the List pane when there are no items in the Sync List. After
doing this, you can add or remove items from the list and click Shuffle Now.
3. After you have set up your Sync List, make sure that all the items will fit on your device
by looking at the List pane. Remove any necessary items from the Sync List and click
Start Sync.
| ITunes Agent Setup Instructions |
1. Download iTunes Agent and .net framework 2.0 from Microsoft. The following are two links that you need to go to to download the two software packages. iTunes Agent and .net framework 2.0:
| Download iTunes Agent |
 |
| Download .Net Framework 2.0 |
 |
2. After downloading please install both packages. There will be no setup for .net framework 2.0, it will just install and end. You will however have to do setup for the iTunes Agent to operate and connect to iTunes.
3. After installation of iTunes Agent go to the program list by clicking the start button. Select iTunes Agent. It will startup. Its icon will be located in the task bar which is in the lower right hand of your screen. It looks like a little MP3 player.
4. Right click the icon. Select preferences.
5. A dialog box opens up. It is where you setup iTunes Agent.
6. Under the heading devices select Generic player.
7. Next go to Device Information heading.
8. The first item in the Device Information heading will be name. It should have Generic player in it.
9. The next line says Music folder. This is the folder on the MP3 Player where your music will be located. Click on the box to the right of the line. It will take you to Browse Folders. If your MP4 is connected it should be in the list of drives. It will be a removable drive. Locate it and open it. If there is a music folder located in it select it. If there is not one create one.
10. Once you have selected the folder click ok. This will take you back to iTunes Agent preferences. Now on the line that says music folder will be the name of the folder you selected on the MP4 player previously.
11. The next line below music folder says Recognize by folder/file:. Here you want to type in exactly what is on the line right above it.
12. The last line says Associate with playlist. Select Use device name...
13. Now click save at the bottom of the screen. iTunes Agent says it is setup. Now click close.
14. Open iTunes. The MP4 should be listed on the left side under My Devices. You are connected. Lastly, keep in mind that you cannot play iPod formatted songs. These songs are in AAC format. They will have to be converted to MP3 to sync and be seen on the MP4.
15. Any song purchase through iTunes or anywhere else has to be first burned to a disk then ripped back to iTunes in MP3 format before you can Sync. This procedure gets rid of the encrypted copyright that Apple and other pay for song sites now employ. If your songs that are in iTunes are directly from CD's and were ripped in MP3 format then you can sync them immediately.
16. After your songs have been converted to MP3 format you can select them then right click one or many songs at one time. Now you right click the one song or several songs and a dialog window opens. Select Add To Playlist then Generic player. All of the songs you selected will now be under generic player under My Devices. To sync the songs to the MP4 all you have to do is right click the iTunes Agent icon on the task bar and select synchronize devices. Your songs are now being synced to the MP4.
17. You can now listen to your music.

Decalgirl Instructions
Some of you are probably like me and don't exactly have rock-steady hands when putting skins on. With our iPod MP3 Player skins, we didn't allow much room for error, opting to cover as much of the device as possible. With the intricacies of the face piece, it can be challenging to get it aligned properly. There's nothing worse that getting it halfway on, realizing it's crooked and then destroying it by peeling it off too fast.
Fortunately, there's a simple way to get the skin on perfectly with just a few easy steps:
1. Start with a clean iPod and a clean, flat working surface.
2. Remove the skin from its backing and lay it, adhesive side up on the flat surface in front of you.
3. Holding the iPod face-down with both hands, looking straight down, carefully lower the iPod onto the skin, all the time aligning it by sight.
4. Once the iPod touches the skin and bonds, lift it up and press with your finger to bond the skin to the iPod.
5. You can repeat this with the back, but the back is usually easy enough to install without this method, as the curved edges give you some room to play.
Note that this method doesn't work for the crystal shields - they can trap air underneath of them and those trapped air bubbles can't be simply pushed out like they can with our normal skins. Some advice for those applying the crystal skins:
1. Wash and dry your hands before starting. This will help lessen any natural body oils on your fingertips that could result in fingerprints on the adhesive of the shields.
2. Holding the back skin by it's top and bottom edge, align it then apply starting in the middle of the iPod. Work your way towards the top and bottom with even pressure.
3. The same tactic works for the front, starting in the middle and working towards the top and bottom of the device. Trying to apply the entire crystal shield at once rather than work from the middle out may leave air pockets underneath of it.
4. For those who asked about "wet installation" - we tried and the liquid shorted out the clickwheel on one of our iPod 5G units. We do not recommend this for the face of the iPod (obviously).
5. Some very minor screen distortion is normal with the crystal shield, showing up as a slight graininess over the active LCD area. This "silvering" can diminish over time.
